Est. 1997

Rhonda was tasked with establishing an after-school program at Blueberry Community School.

Initially, only 5-6 children, including three of Rhonda’s own, attended. Over the years, the program gained popularity, attracting more parents to enroll their children across four separate locations: Blueberry Community School, Woodland Park Elementary, Brent Kennedy Elementry, and Robson Community School. Rhonda dedicated herself to traveling to each location every week to oversee the program's activities.
As the seasons passed and Rhonda moved from one location to another, she eventually received an opportunity to rent half the gym at the old Kinnaird Middle School, which was being purchased by the Baptist Church.

Today

The Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics Club is a not-for-profit organization that has been serving the Castlegar area for 27 years. Our club offers recreational programs including artistic gymnastics and freestyle, as well as competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics. Additionally, we sponsor and accept referrals from Kootenay Family Place to provide safe and inclusive opportunities for children with special needs.

Every year, over 200 athletes of all ages join us to experience the fun, fitness and fundamentals of gymnastics!

Our Mission

The Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics Club encourages our gymnasts to reach their full potential with competitive spirit, co-operation, and good sports ethics.

Our dedicated coaches promote health and wellness through quality instruction, and strive to provide an environment where every athlete feels accepted, valued, and respected.
